'ear da cry!!

Howdy Beautiful People and happy Friday!

What's really good?! It's been a few weeks and I've been slacking... trying to keep on top of too many things at once. Well, I'm here to let you know about a few things, including my gig calendar for October, and believe me, there's an event in there for everyone - whichever part of London you can get to, and whatever your budget. First though...

I completed the Adidas 5k Challenge on 5th September and whilst it was hard work, I actually loved it! (Yeah, I was stunned too) - it was an exhilarating feeling crossing that finish line, and seeing Kat (Francois) and all the other ladies afterwards added to my adrenaline rush! In total, I rasied £237.80 for Arthritis Care and am extremely proud of myself for doing so. On Sunday 19th September, another 'first' was achieved! Myself and Saran Green jointly hosted an event, on behalf of someone else. Partnas in Rhyme hosted the new event, "Let's Speak..." Visualisation through Word, at Metra, in the heart of Leicester Square. The line up was am-a-zing and we had a fantastic night. It was also our debut (rehearsed) performance of 'Hair Da Cry!' our first collaborative poem about... hair! It went well and the audience enjoyed it (according to feedback) but we're still working on getting the flow and timing right. Keep up with performance dates and come and check it out for yourself real soon.

I've been nominated for an award!! I know, fabulous eh?! I thought so too! The BEFFTA Awards 2010 (Black Entertainment, Film, Fashion, Television and Arts Awards) celebrate all that is great inside and outside of the mainstream. I have been nominated in the category of Best Spoken Word Artist/Poet alongside six other fantastic artists; Kat Francois, Tshaka Campbell, Phenzwaan, Michaela the Poet, James Massiah and Suli Breaks. It's going to be fierce competition, but I'm up for the challenge! Voting is open to the public and has already started. You can vote for me, should you wish to, by texting: 'Vote 372' to 80010. SMS/Text votes cost £1 each, plus your standard network charge (and you can vote as many times as you wish! LOL)

What else did I have to tell you? Hmmmmm, so much, so much, but my brain is frazzled, and today is my last day of 'employment' so I'm rushing cos I started this post DAYS ago and have only now almost finished it! Need to find my butt at work... so...whatever else I have to say, can wait until next time! In the meantime, do check out the gig calendar and try to catch a show, especially a free one, if you can. As it's officially, Black History Month, there are LOTS of free things to do across London, most of which are being put on by local borough councils, so get online and look up your LB (or another) and see what you fancy. Take advantage, cos with the ConLib government, who know's if you'll ever experience freeness in your lifetime again?!

Peace and hairgrease,

Comfy x

P.S. Did I mention that my three month performance break ends today? I'm performing tonight! Alongside the mighty Pure Feminine Energy and Tshaka Campbell, with OneNess hosting? Nah? Oh, okay.... nervous?! Me?! Erm... *Cough*

P.P.S. Check out my company (ONiT! PR) blog too, especially if you like poetry. We relaunched 'Poem of the Day' today: http://onitpr.blogspot.com

Bless
